What We Do

Since 1912, YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix has been on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. We imagine an equitable and inclusive society for everyone. We sponsor events that support women empowering women and focus on how race and gender impact issues that impact Phoenix.

We create safe spaces for courageous conversations and provide direct services to seniors and low-income women and their families through our home-delivered meals, senior center, and financial literacy programs. Locally, we are focused on improving women’s access to healthcare, recidivism and reentry, Census 2020, and immigration.

Eliminating Racism

YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix is a visible voice in social justice, hosting conversations, film screenings, and community events where people can come together to share and learn how race and racial justice affect each of us. Each April, we join more than 200 sister associations across the nation in Stand Against Racism, uniting our voices to advocate, educate, and promote racial justice.

Women Empowering Women

YWCA sponsors events that support women empowering women to promote financial independence and economic advancement, with a particular focus on the way race impacts women’s economic opportunities. Our financial literacy and wage negotiation courses give women the skills to take control of their career and their fiscal health and stability. Additionally, our programs invite our entire community to come together to explore the opportunities and barriers to creating equality for all.

Bringing Community Together

We believe that when communities come together, individuals and families get stronger. From creating community spaces where seniors receive the companionship and support they need to age in place, to providing safe spaces where women can build networks of support, YWCA is committed to building equitable and inclusive communities together.

Advocating for Change

Since our founding, YWCA has been on the forefront of the biggest issues of the day — from voting rights to civil rights, from affordable housing to pay equity and from violence prevention to health care reform. On the local, state, and national level, we carry on this long tradition of social action and advocacy to advance our mission – advocating for policies that promote racial justice and gender equality.
